Gallia-Vinton ESC hosted Ohio Department of
Education Math Team February 16, 2018
for Regional Math Standards Professional Development
Teachers, administrators and other Education Service Center consultants received updates on Ohio’s State Testing changes, learned how to Use
2017 Transition Documents to Plan Instruction to align with Ohio’s Math Learning Standards that were adopted in February 2017 and will be assessed in the Spring of 2018-2019. This session showed participants how to use Ohio’s resources: Critical Areas of Focus, Learning Progressions, Gap Analysis, and Model Curriculum to analyze standards. Participants sat in grade band groups where they networked with peers while using Ohio’s documents to look at selected standards and use the documents mentioned to design quality lessons that meet the needs of all students.
Using Released Items to Guide Instruction was the second session of the day. The last session of the day focused on analyzing and exploring Depth
of Knowledge that culminated
in writing their own questions across multiple DOK levels.
Presenter for the training was Annika Moore, ODE Math Consultant. Lunch and snacks were provided by the Gallia Vinton Educational Service Center
