Landmark Moments Fellowship "Adopt" River Valley Wolf Pack

Landmark Moments is an on-going ESC professional development project for area teachers that includes summer field studies. During the 2017-2018 school year, the teachers took part in rigorous studies of the Mountain States areas of the U.S. The studies were led by noted historian and author, Dr. Dan Flores, and environmental historian, Dr. Sara Dant.

Conservation of ecosystems was an area of focus covered by Dr. Dant. During the summer field study travels, the teachers were privileged to visit Yellowstone National Park to experience the history that led to the conservation of U.S. natural treasures. To mark the group’s studies symbolically, the Gallia-Vinton ESC Landmark Moments “adopted” the River Valley wolf pack of the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone, Montana. The wolf pack consists of two wolves, Akela and Kootenai. The wolves serve as ambassadors to assist the public with understanding the role the various animals play in environmental conservation. If you stop by the ESC, be sure and notice the “stuffed” image of our new wolf friends!
