The Ohio Department of Education coordinates 16 regional State Support Teams (SSTs). The funtion of the SSTs is to enhance the capacity of school districts to plan and implement systemic and sustainable school improvement. SSTs assist district leaders to identify the core work of the schools, to distribute leadership for improvement efforts among staff, and to share ownership for school improvement. The Gallia-Vinton Educational Service Center is fortunate to have Robin Phillips, a (part-time) State Support Team member, located at our agency to facilitate school improvement for ESC member districts and other nearby schools. Robin's addition to our staff as an SST member was made possible through a collaboration between the Region 16 State Support Team and the Gallia-Vinton ESC. Mrs. Phillips is also employed by the ESC as a professional development coordinator and external evaluator for afterschool programs.
State Support Team Region 16 serves school districts in Athens, Gallia, Hocking, Jackson, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Perry, Vinton, and Washington counties.
