On March 1, 2025, the University of Rio Grande hosted the Region 9 Ohio History Day competition, welcoming students from across the region to showcase their historical research. Participants in grades 6-12 presented projects in categories such as documentaries, exhibits, and performances, all centered on the theme "Rights and Responsibilities in History." Several local students will be advancing to the state competition on April 26, 2025, at Capital University including Amber Tucker, Ella Elliott, Joshua Stanley, Kyla Gilbert, Jasmine York, Sevin Brown, Mackenzey Willis, Aiden McDaniel, Noah Blazer, Oscar Hendrix, and Teagan Weber.
