The GVESC has been awarded $806,216 in funding to expand College Credit Plus (CCP) course offerings in southeastern Ohio high schools. The GVESC is one of only four educational service centers to receive funding from Round Two of the competitive CCP Grant.
In partnership with the Athens-Meigs and Lawrence County ESC’s member school districts, the GVESC will focus on expanding student access to college coursework in critical subjects such as math, science, English, and social studies. Working with area universities and 18 school districts, GVESC will serve as the program lead and fiscal agent to recruit and support credentialing programs for educators, with a goal of credentialing over 50 teachers, ultimately providing more opportunities for local high school students to earn college credit. "Securing this funding is a significant step toward expanding college-level opportunities for students in southeastern Ohio. Thad Haines and I have dedicated over a year to developing this grant, and we are excited to see the progress unfold. We look forward to hosting informational sessions and initiating the recruitment process to support educators in earning the credentials required to teach College Credit Plus courses." – Emily Crabtree
