The first In One Accord Symposium was held on September 30, 2024, at the Holzer Leadership and Innovation Institute in Gallipolis, OH. Launched through a collaboration between the Gallia-Vinton ESC and Gallia County Job & Family Services (JFS), the initiative had a goal to bring together the agencies that provide services to children and families in Gallia County. By working together, the agencies can avoid duplication of services and allow for expansion of needed services.
National speaker Juan Otero (singer/songwriter from Nashville) addressed the group on the importance of collaboration and the impact it can have on families and children. Other speakers included Dana Glassburn, Gallia County JFS Director, and Dr. Denise Shockley, GVESC Superintendent. Glassburn said, “The need for expanded services and increased resources for families and children has never been greater.” Shockley further said, “The challenge for this group is to create a clear vision and goals, align community partners, and be part of the solution.”
Over 65 people attended the event with 40 agencies represented. The group is committed to working toward countywide initiatives that will impact families and children. To move In One Accord means that silos are gone, and collaboration is the norm.
