On December 9, 2024, Wellston Middle School and Wellston High School ELA teachers participated in a professional development session focused on literacy assessments. Facilitated by Katie Kilgour and Wellston's Dana Eberts, the session explored key science of reading frameworks, including the Simple View of Reading, Scarborough's Reading Rope, and the Cognitive Model. Educators discussed the importance of building a comprehensive literacy assessment system that incorporates screeners, diagnostics, and progress monitoring to better support student success.
