Over 1,200 community members and families enjoyed Gallia Winterfest in the Gallipolis City Park on February 19. Not only did the event draw local families; many registrants were from Mason, Jackson, Meigs, and Lawrence counties. Participants enjoyed family time as they embarked on a scavenger hunt, locating the beautiful ice sculptures provided by Tyson Whistler. In addition, there was a live ice sculpture demonstration, ice skating, curling, and a hockey shoot. The younger participants enjoyed meeting Olaf the snowman, embarking on a train ride, and receiving a stuffed penguin or a “Winterfest bear.” Free hot chocolate and snow cones were provided, and each family received a “chill” bag. The event provided fun for all ages and fostered family engagement. All activities were sponsored by the Gallia-Vinton ESC, Gallia County Job & Family Services, Gallia County Commissioners, and the City of Gallipolis. A special thanks to the ESC staff and the afterschool staff who helped the event run smoothly. For more photos of the event visit any of our social media pages!
