State Board of Education President Addresses the Business Advisory Council Education Committee

Business Advisory CouncilThe educational subgroup of the GVESC Business Advisory Council met on January 25. At this meeting, which brought together educational leaders throughout the area, newly elected Ohio Board of Education President Paul LaRue spoke to the committee. LaRue is an acclaimed retired history teacher from Washington Courthouse, Ohio, who is the recipient of awards such as Time Warner’s National Teacher of the Year and The History Channel’s First Place in “Innovation in History.” Within his new role as president of Ohio’s Board of Education, LaRue plans to prioritize literacy, learning acceleration, workforce development, and the creation of business advisory councils. His impassioned speech to the GVESC Business Advisory Council spoke to the need for schools to adapt to a changing world and the bright future that he envisions for education in the state of Ohio. Because Mr. LaRue is from southern Ohio, he will serve as a welcome advocate for both students and educators in the area.
