Healthy Kick Start: Supporting Student Wellness

In addition to providing academic supports, the Gallia-Vinton ESC prioritizes student wellness through PBIS implementation, afterschool programs, and family engagement events. Our partnerships with Job and Family Services, county health departments, and 21st Century Learning Centers have allowed us to implement and maintain quality programming and events.  Healthy Kick Start, which began in Gallia County in 2019 and has recently expanded into Jackson County, is a back-to-school community health day clinic for immunizations, exhibits, and valuable information. Over 20 area agencies were present at each location, and the day included prizes, drawings, and school supplies for those that visited all health education tables. Live music, Kona Ice, face painting, and Magic Mirror rounded out the day’s events.
