April marks National School Library Month, a time to recognize the vital role school libraries and librarians play in supporting students, teachers, and communities. Libraries have transformed into dynamic Learning Centers, featuring digital tools and flexible spaces designed to meet the diverse learning needs of today’s students.
GVESC's Assistant Superintendent Emily Crabtree and technology consultant Laurel Marion were invited to speak at the Jackson Rotary meeting on March 24, 2025. They highlighted the impactful work they have done to support area school libraries. Their efforts have supported eight school districts including 27 schools, resulting in the purchase of over 36,000 books and a total investment of more than $1 million in local schools. In collaboration with the schools' librarians, their dedication to strengthening library resources ensures students have access to high-quality, relevant materials that enhance their learning experiences.
This year’s National Library Week, observed from April 6 to 12, 2025, carries the theme "Drawn to the Library." This theme celebrates the library as a place where people connect, learn, and explore, and encourages participation in library activities.
