Treasure Your Family-Dinner Theater
student and parentsThe cafeteria at the University of Rio Grande’s Davis Center was transformed into a makeshift museum through exhibits donated by the Greer Museum of Rio Grande and the Lillian Jones Museum of Jackson for the GVESC’s culminating Treasure Your Family event. The “museum” was set to unveil a prized Ocean diamond, but the diamond was stolen prior to the unveiling! Seventy-eight families engaged in this interactive, crime-solving simulation where students acted as characters and sleuths to determine what happened to the infamous diamond. Door prizes were awarded, and each family received a goodie bag and a blanket. Treasure Your Family, a partnership among the Gallia-Vinton ESC, the Gallia County Department  of Jobs and Family Services, and the Gallia County Commissioners, is a means for promoting family stability. Families choose from a calendar of activities in which to participate together. Families who achieve certain levels of participation receive prizes, including this event where families enjoyed a spaghetti dinner, an evening of dramatized mystery, and some quality time together.
