Dino Roar
The Gallia-child in a dino eggVinton ESC had a "roaring" good time at a county wide family engagement event held for all afterschool programs in Gallia County at the Bossard Memorial Library, a primary partner for afterschool programs. Children and their families enjoyed the Savage Ancient Seas exhibit, the only traveling exhibition featuring the marine fossil world that existed 87 to 70 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous Period. The exhibit was filled with carnivorous marine reptiles, gigantic flesh-eating fish big enough to swallow an adult human, flying reptiles with the wingspan of a small airplane, and the biggest sea turtles to have ever lived. Outside on the library grounds a dinosaur bingo game helped the participants learn the names of dinosaurs. Winners chose from an assortment of dinosaur-themed books, puzzles, games, and toys. Three performances of "Dino-Roar!," a touring interactive show, thrilled the children with costumed handlers, rambunctious baby dinos, and a ferocious T-Rex. Over 300 people attended the STEM focused community event.
