Wellston City Schools Welcomes New Superintendent
Dr. Brian RauDr. Brian Rau has been named Superintendent of Wellston City Schools. Throughout his many years in education, Dr. Rau has taught mathematics, served as an athletic director, assistant principal, special education coordinator, curriculum director, and superintendent. He also served in the US Navy from 1995-1999 as an aircraft rescue firefighter. He has received degrees from Morehead State University (B.A.), the University of Dayton (M.S.), and the University of the Cumberlands (Ph.D.), where his dissertation focused on the effects of early childhood education (ECE) relative to reading on grade level and learning disabilities. He and his wife share 4 children and 1 grandchild. He enjoys listening to the Bible, riding his Honda Goldwing, scuba diving, boating, playing the saxophone, and reading. He is an advocate for investing in ECE and adopting a student-centered approach. Dr. Rau stated that he “looks forward to seeing our students engaged in the classroom and building relationships with the Golden Rocket team and the families we serve.”
