The Gallia-Vinton ESC is dedicated to improving results for the students and communities in Southeast Ohio. On March 18, Dr. Ron Morris, Dr. Denise Shockley, Brack Houchens, Connie Bradbury, and David Moore presented at the 2022 Appalachian Studies Association Conference in Morgantown, West Virginia, to share the many ways in which our ESC has facilitated school and community improvements.
Their presentation focused on ways to engage Appalachian communities and highlighted ideas for building common experiences, bridging the gap between school and community, teaching jurisprudential processes and problem solving, and preparing students for school. They were able to showcase several ESC programs including “Treasure Your Family” and “Summer Advantage.” The GVESC remains committed to providing quality programming and services that build school capacity, celebrate Appalachian culture, and foster family and community engagement.
