On November 29, 2022, the GVESC hosted a Comprehensive Student Threat Assessment Guidelines (CSTAG) training for 76 staff members from Wellston, Vinton County, Gallia Local, Buckeye Hills and Hope Haven. CSTAG training provides guidelines for schools to use in responding to threats of violence. District and building teams are composed of administrators, counselors, teachers, school resource officers, and other staff members. The evidence-based training allows schools to meet the requirements of Ohio House Bill 123, the "Safety and Violence Education Students (SAVE Students) Act."
