Strong families spend time together! Therefore, the Treasure Your Family program was originated by the GVESC to bring the family, school, and community together in a series of activities. Families of the students in afterschool and summer programs in Jackson, Gallia, Lawrence, and Vinton Counties are invited to participate in activities during the month of April and receive rewards for participation. A calendar of over 30 family engagement opportunities is provided to foster family togetherness and enrich awareness of community resources.

As families select up to 10 different activities, they photograph their family engaged in each
activity. The photos are submitted online and participation is tracked. Rewards such as movie or bowling passes, fishing gear, and family games are distributed at the conclusion of the month and based on the number of activities completed. This project is made possible through partnerships with the Gallia-Vinton ESC, school districts, Job & Family Services, local businesses, and the Nita Lowry 21st CCLC afterschool programs.

April’s calendar of activities for Gallia County families contains an extra-special challenge to follow a series of mysterious clues that will lead families all around the county in search of hidden golden eggs!
