The Gallia-Vinton ESC welcomed members of Delta Kappa Gamma (DKG), an organization promoting professional and personal growth of female educators and excellence in education, on November 4, 2022. Debby Canter, Ohio State Organization DKG President and Affiliate Liaison for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, was the guest speaker for the meeting. She shared how the library was originally started in Parton’s home state of Tennessee. In 1995, Dolly Parton and her father started the program with the vision to provide books to children from birth to age 5. The program has grown to include 5 countries and gifts of over one million free books! Each child in the program receives 60 books, beginning with  The Little Engine that Could and concluding with Look out Kindergarten, Here I Come.Canter also shared the initiatives the DKG organization supports: Donate Life, a program that supports organ donation; the Girl Scout program; and Girls ROX, a program led by teachers and developed for 5th through 12th grade girls aimed at creating a generation of confident girls who control their own relationships, experiences, decisions, and futures.
